Ortnerhof is located in Obereggen in the Eggental valley at 1,550 meters above sea level – with a view of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Rosengarten-Latemar.

Suites & Amenities
What suites are available at Ortnerhof?
Ortnerhof offers 19 exclusive suites: Nature Suites, spacious 3-room suites, and two-story chalet suites. Additionally, traditional suites are available in the existing building section.
Are the suites suitable for families?
Yes. The suites offer plenty of space for families, separate sleeping areas, children's rooms, high-quality furnishings, and depending on the category, a kitchen or kitchenette.
What is included in the basic equipment of the suites?
All suites feature a safe, satellite TV, telephone, bathroom with shower or bathtub, WC/bidet, hairdryer, and cosmetic mirror. Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.
Are there parking spaces?
Yes. A free parking space in the garage is available for each room.
Is there Wi-Fi in the hotel?
Yes. Free broadband Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.
Are the Traditional Suites accessible by elevator?
No. The Traditional Suites are located in the traditional building section without an elevator.
Are pets allowed at Ortnerhof?
No. Dogs and pets are not allowed in the suites at Ortnerhof.
Prices, Booking & Cancellation
What is included in the daily price?
The daily price includes, among other things, half board PLUS, Kids All Inclusive, childcare, baby and child equipment, wellness areas, outdoor experiences in summer, as well as proximity to the slopes in winter and discounts on ski rentals.
How are the prices calculated?
The prices apply per adult and night with a minimum occupancy of two adults and a stay of at least three nights.
Is there a surcharge for short stays?
Yes. For a one-night stay, there is a one-night surcharge.
Is there a local tax?
Yes. For all persons aged 14 and over, a municipal accommodation tax of €3.20 per person per night is charged. This is not included in the accommodation price.
Is there a best price guarantee?
Yes. Ortnerhof guarantees that you will not find a cheaper price online or in a price list than directly at Ortnerhof.
When is check-in and check-out?
The rooms are ready for occupancy from 3:00 p.m. on the day of arrival. On the day of departure, Ortnerhof asks that the rooms be vacated by 10:00 a.m.
What is the deposit amount?
To secure the booking, a deposit of 30% of the total price is requested. This will be deducted from the final price.
What are the cancellation conditions?
No additional cancellation fees apply up to 61 days before arrival. From 31 to 60 days before arrival, 50% of the total amount is charged, within 30 days 80%, and from 7 days before arrival 100%. In case of late arrival or early departure, the corresponding days will also be charged at 100%.
Is travel cancellation insurance recommended?
Yes. Ortnerhof recommends taking out travel cancellation insurance so that you are financially protected in case of late arrival, no-show, or early departure.
Culinary & Catering
What kind of catering can adults expect?
Adults enjoy a breakfast buffet, an afternoon cake buffet, and in the evening South Tyrolean as well as Italian specialties from the show kitchen with antipasti and dessert from the buffet.
What does Half Board PLUS mean?
Half Board PLUS includes breakfast, an afternoon cake buffet, and a dinner with South Tyrolean and Italian specialties.
Are there lactose-free or gluten-free dishes?
Yes. Lactose-free and gluten-free options are available upon prior request.
What is Kids All Inclusive?
Kids All Inclusive includes breakfast, supervised lunch or packed lunch, children's menu at the parents' table, snacks in the afternoon, as well as apple, elderberry, orange juice, iced tea, and spring water all day long from the children's juice bar.
Where do children eat lunch?
Children participating in childcare eat supervised in the children's dining room of the partner hotel Hotel Obereggen. For children who are with their parents, there are packed lunches or, upon pre-order, lunch at Hotel Obereggen.
Is there a bar at Ortnerhof?
Yes. The bar and panorama terrace invite you to coffee, aperitivo, cake, or wine. The last round at the bar is served until 10:30 pm.
Childcare & Family Vacation
Is there childcare at Ortnerhof?
Yes. The Kiddy Club offers loving childcare five days a week with a varied program.
How many hours of childcare are included?
The daily price includes 40 hours of childcare per week.
Where does the childcare take place?
The childcare rooms are located directly at Ortnerhof or at the partner hotel Hotel Obereggen. Additionally, various places around the hotel, the forest, the farm, and the riding stable are included in the program.
What do children experience in summer?
In summer, children can look forward to donkey trekking, farm experiences with animals, climbing adventures, adventure hikes, family hikes, crafting and painting sessions, as well as our nature explorer children's program focusing on nature.
What do children experience in winter?
In winter, there are introductory riding sessions, horse care, wood workshop, mixing mocktails, children's wellness, cookie baking, torchlight hikes, winter games on the farm, and care after ski lessons.
Are there offers for teens?
Yes. Teens enjoy activities such as supervised horse time, horse care, donkey trekking, trampoline, table tennis, foosball, badminton tournaments, wood workshop, climbing, wellness, and varied adventures.
Is Ortnerhof suitable for babies?
Yes. For babies and toddlers, there is special equipment, a heated baby pool, stroller-friendly hiking trails, and toddler care by arrangement.
What baby and child equipment is available?
The equipment includes changing mats, baby monitors, diaper bins, bottle warmers, cots, children's stools, changing tables, bathtubs, potty or toilet reducers, kettles, high chairs, bibs, children's dishes, strollers, carrier backpacks, and children's bathrobes.
Riding & Farm
Is there a private riding stable?
Yes. The Ortnerhof has its own riding stable with ponies, horses, riding instructors, and riding educators.
From what age is riding lessons possible?
Riding lessons are offered for children from 6 years old. For children from 3 to 6 years, there are playful activities around horses as well as a riding-educational parent-child concept.
What riding options are available?
There are taster rides, group lessons, private lessons on request, week courses, horse care, stable care, horse games, rides, and donkey trekking.
Is riding also suitable for beginners?
Yes. Beginners and riders with prior knowledge can participate in the lessons. The riding instructors individually address skills and experience.
Do children need to be accompanied when riding?
Yes. Children are brought to riding by their parents and picked up afterwards.
Is helmet use mandatory when riding?
Yes. Helmet use is mandatory when riding. Suitable riding helmets are provided by Ortnerhof.
Which animals live on the organic farm?
On the farm live, among others, chickens, Highland cattle, goats, sheep, cats, donkeys, horses, ponies, and rabbits.
Can children help out on the farm?
Yes. Children can feed animals, cuddle rabbits, help with mucking out as part of the children's program, or playfully learn new things during stable and horse care.
Wellness, Pool & Swimming Pond
Which pools are there at the Ortnerhof?
There is a year-round heated outdoor pool with mountain views, an indoor pool with a sluice to the outdoor pool, as well as a baby pool.
Is the outdoor pool heated year-round?
Yes. The outdoor pool is heated year-round and offers plenty of space for swimming with panoramic views at 6 x 12 meters.
Is there a wellness area for adults?
Yes. There is an adults-only area with a Finnish sauna, relaxation rooms with panoramic views, and a lounge area.
Is there wellness for families and children?
Yes. Families enjoy the indoor and outdoor pools, baby pool, children's sauna, children's bathrobes, and relaxed family moments in the wellness area.
Does each family have its own lounge area?
Yes. In the pool and wellness area, there is a reserved lounge area for each family.
What is special about the swimming pond?
The swimming pond is a natural biotope with clear water, aquatic plants, and small animals. It is cleaned without chlorine and chemicals and can warm up to 20 °C in good weather.
Summer Vacation & Activities
What can you do in summer around the Ortnerhof?
In summer, you can enjoy hiking, family hikes, mountain biking, e-biking, climbing, bathing lakes, the organic swimming pond, excursion destinations, horseback riding, donkey trekking, and farm experiences.
Are there hiking trails directly in the area?
Yes. Around Obereggen, there are about 200 kilometers of well-maintained hiking trails. Additionally, there are themed hikes, tour tips directly at the Ortnerhof, and guided tours with mountain guides for a fee.
Are there family-friendly hikes?
Yes. Especially family-friendly is, for example, the Temple Trail through the Karer Forest to Lake Karer, which is also suitable for strollers.
Are there bike offers?
Yes. Directly at the valley station in Obereggen, there is a rental for mountain bikes and e-bikes as well as guided tours.
Are there climbing offers for children?
Yes. Children can participate in the climbing adventure on natural stone or in the climbing hall with a certified climbing instructor. Additional costs may apply in some cases.
Which bathing lakes are in the area?
In the area, among others, are the Large and Small Montiggler Lakes as well as Lake Caldaro. They are ideal for day trips with swimming, nature, and relaxation.
What excursion destinations are nearby?
Popular excursion destinations are Bolzano, the gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, the Bletterbach Gorge, Maria Weißenstein, Tirol Castle, Karneid Castle, the Archaeological Museum Bolzano, the Messner Mountain Museum, the Max Valier Observatory, and the Alpine Coaster.
Winter Vacation & Skiing
How far is the Ortnerhof from the ski area?
The Ortnerhof is located in close proximity to the Obereggen/Fiemme ski area. The lifts are about 150 to 250 meters away.
How large is the Obereggen/Fiemme ski area?
The ski area offers more than 50 kilometers of perfectly groomed slopes, modern lift facilities, snow reliability, and a varied range of activities for families and winter sports enthusiasts.
Are there ski courses for children?
Yes. At the Ski & Snowboard School Obereggen, children from 4 years old learn to ski or snowboard playfully and safely.
Is there a ski kindergarten?
Yes. For children aged 3 to 4 years, there is the Schneehaus or ski kindergarten as a playful preparation for their first steps in the snow.
Are children picked up from the ski course?
Yes. On request, the team picks up the children directly on the slope after the ski course and accompanies them to lunch.
Is there a children's ski park?
Yes. In Brunoland, conveyor belts, snow carpets, bouncy castles, children's carousels, tubing runs, and other winter adventures await. Brunoland is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Is there childcare in Brunoland?
No. There is no childcare in Brunoland. Parents are responsible for their children and entry is at your own risk.
Is there a ski rental?
Yes. At the partner hotel Hotel Obereggen, there is a ski rental with a 10% discount for guests of the Ortnerhof.
Is there a ski room?
Yes. A ski room with ski boot dryers is available for all suites.
What can you do in winter without skis?
Even without skis, there are many winter experiences: winter hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoe hiking, sledding, night sledding, night skiing, snowpark, torchlight hikes, and excursions into the snowy nature.
Can snowshoes be rented?
Yes. Snowshoes can be borrowed free of charge at the Nature Resort.
Arrival
How do you travel to Ortnerhof by car?
Obereggen is about 20 minutes from Bolzano. Take the Brenner motorway exit Bolzano-North, drive towards Bolzano, then continue through the tunnel into the Eggental valley and on to Obereggen.
Can you arrive by train?
Yes. The nearest train station is in Bolzano. Upon request, Ortnerhof will gladly arrange a taxi to bring you directly to the hotel.
Which airports are nearby?
Nearby airports are Bolzano, Verona, Venice, and Innsbruck. Other airports in the area include Munich, Treviso, Bergamo, Bologna, and Milan.
Offers & Specials
Are there special riding offers?
Yes. During certain offer periods (see here), there are "Horse Weeks for Preschool Children from 3 Years" where supervised horse time is included daily from Monday to Friday for one hour.
Are there offers where children stay for free?
Yes. During certain offer periods (see here), one child up to 12 years stays free in the parents' room. For multiple children, the younger child stays free, and usual child discounts apply for additional children.
